Brihday party

I went to my host mother’s niece birthday party tonight. Her niece’s name is Noelle. She became 20 years old last Sunday. My age is same her! I was glad to know her age. Noelle is a very beautiful girl and very kind. When I saw her first time, I thought that she is a model. So she is really cute. We talked a lot, it was very fun. We had a barbecue in the yard. Noelle’s father baked me some vegetables and meets. It was yummy. After that we talked each other. I couldn’t English enough but I had good time. After that we dung happy birthday’s song and her mother and brother brought cakes. Noelle put out candles. It was same in Japan. I told my host mother that we sing happy birthday’s song in English in Japan. She was really surprised at it. So she told her family, everybody surprised about it. We don’t have birthday’s song in Japanese. The birthday song is common all over the world. It is funny. We ate cake; the cake was like a cheese cake tart. It was really delicious. After that we gave her birthday cards. I gave her a sing birthday card. The card made family laugh. Noelle looked like happy. I was really happy too. Her father said me, “Your card is a best all of things.” I was glad to hear the words. Her father is a very kind person. I like her family. Everybody is so good people. I want to appreciate for their kindness. I had very good night too. Good noght.

Sushi party

I made some sushi with some KGU & Rikkyou students. We gathered at Akiha’s host family’s house. We made tuna, vegetable, nattou sushi roles. Akiha’s host father made vinegar rice. He made good vinegar rice. We rolled sushi, it was very difficult for us. I made sushi for the first time but it was very fun. We made sushi an hour, we were very tired. Our host family ate sushi, they said, “Very good!!” I was really glad to hear the words. My host family likes nattou, so I was really surprised. I had never met foreign country’s person who like nattou. My host mother likes inari sushi. The inari sushi was made by Akiha. She made it last night alone. She was very good job! I ate the inari, it was so delicious. I was really happy because I ate rice too much. We can’t eat Japanese food in America. I really appreciate to students & our host family. I’m full yet… I will go to birthday party of my host mother’s niece tomorrow. I will give her a birthday card. I hope that she is pleasure. See you soon.

Lake Superior

I went to Lake Superior with my host family last weekend. We woke up early and left our house. We stayed hotel in front of Lake Superior. Our room was with a view. We swam in the lake. Water of the lake was so clean, my host mother said, “We can drink this water.” But the water too cold to swim. I couldn’t swim too cold. My host family soaked head-deep in the water twice. I was amazing. After that we played a game. The game was Mexican train. It was very fun. We played the game 3 times; I won the game 2 times! I was really happy to won the game. After that we went to a restaurant but the restaurant closed at 9 p.m. We gave up the restaurant, we went to other restaurant. I ate bacon double cheese burger and French fries. It was too big for me so I was full. We came back our hotel by walk. We could a lot of stars. I had never seen such a many stars. I saw Milky Way for the first time. It was so beautiful; I was moved to see a lot of stars. After that we came back our room and went to bed.
On Sunday, we woke up at 8 a.m. We ate breakfast in the hotel. I ate cereal and bread. It was yummy. After that we left the hotel. We went to some beaches. My host father likes looking for rocks on the beach. We were looking for beautiful rocks in some beaches. Lake water was cooler than yesterday. I felt good when I stayed lakes. After we left lake, we went to a café restaurant. We went to the café on Saturday. The café was very delicious. We ate Sashimi tuna tacos. I was really surprised that the menu wrote in Japanese. It was really yummy meal. After we leave there, we went to home. I had very good time there. So I really appreciate to my host family. Thank you such a great experience!

Last weekend

I’ll write about last weekend. Last Saturday, I went to carnival of Minneapolis with my host father. I went to carnival for the first time. There were a lot of stand and amusement. I ate mini doughnuts and cheese fries. It was very delicious. I also saw a lot of animals. There was like a zoo. I saw llama for the first time. He is never moved. It was very funny that I saw him. After that we went to the Twins’ shop. Twins is a Major league baseball team of Minnesota. I bought a bag and stuffed animal. This is souvenir for me. After that we went to shopping mall. It was very big mall, it like the Mall of America. I didn’t buy anything there. I took a nap after came back home. I woke up at 6:30 p.m. I went to a Mexican restaurant. I ate stir fly and rice. I was stuffed because a clerk brought 2 plate for me！ I thought that is only plate. I couldn’t eat them. It was too big meals for me.
Last Sunday, I went to Minnesota zoo with my host father. The zoo is like a jungle and so big. There were a lot of animals. First of all, we went to outside of the zoo. I saw otters for the first time. It was very cute. They watched for hawks because hawks eat them. I also saw camels for the first time. They sunk in the water, it so funny. When we came back to entrance, we were lost. My host father looked zoo’s map but we made two mistakes on the road. After that we arrived the entrance, we saw animals of inside. It was so cool. We saw fishes and snakes. It was very fun for me. I also could get cool. We watched 3D movie after the zoo. I watched 3D movie for the first time. It was very exciting. It seemed that see real. After that we came back home, we took a nap. It was long time. After I get up, I cleaned house because my host family’s family come there. They came the house and brought pizzas. They were very kind of me. Host family’s family asked me about Japan. I was very glad that they talked me a lot. After that we ate pizzas. It was very yummy. After that we played a game. The name called “Light Left Center”. We used 3 dice and quarter coins. We played 2 times. I won the game at the second time. I got $8.25！I was really surprised. Everyone said to me, “Congratulation！”. It was really fun. I had very good time with them last weekend.

August 7

I went to canoe trip today. I rode canoe with my host mother and Chika. First of all my host mother and Chika paddled. I could be relaxed because I didn’t have to paddle. My host mother said, “You are queen！” . laughed when I hear the words. After we arrive Small Island, we were swimming. St. Croix River was very cold. I felt good. I played on the sand with my friend. We tried making a castle but we couldn’t. After that I ate lunch with my host mother and Chika. I ate sandwich and cheese. I was full. After lunch, we rode canoe again. I paddled canoe for the first time. Paddle was heavy. I was tired soon.
I was really happy when I finished paddle I had muscular pain in the day. After that KGU students and host family had dinner in Central park. We often use the park. We ate salad, hamburger, fruits and cookies. I was stuffed. KGU students played funny skits after dinner. It was very fun. Our host family laughed, we were very happy. It was very difficult to play skit by English. I had good experience there.

Cooking

Good morning. I had a block party yesterday. The party held in the house opposite to mine. The house’s people are Sonia, Thom, Kurara and Matsuri. Matsuri is exchange student and she is a KGU student. We have same homestay program. I made salad with my host father. My host father is very kind of me. He always smiles when he talks with me. He likes baseball very well, so we watched a MLB game. We went to Target Field to watch it. The stadium was so big！ The game was Minnesota Twins versus Seattle Mariners. It was very fun because I like baseball very much. I could see Ichiro！He singled up in the middle. I was very exciting there. I’ll have 2 games more. I’m looking forward to watching these games.
Today, I cooked Japanese curry with Matsuri for our host family after school. We cut some vegetables and meets. I boiled the Japanese rice in a pot. It is difficult for me because I boil the rice in a pot for the first time！But Matsuri’s host mother helped with me, I could make good rice. My host family came to Sonia’s home and we ate it. I was worry about host family doesn’t like our curry. But they said, ‘Very delicious！’ I was very glad to hear the words. Every our host family ate a second helpings of the curry. I thought that it was worth our while to make the curry. I had a very good experience today. See-ya！

In Minnesota

Hello, I’m in Minnesota now！How is Japan? Minnesota is nice weather every day. Today is muggy. My host family is very kind of me. I’m really happy to meet them. I went a lot of place in Minnesota. I also will go a lot of place. I’m very exciting every day. I eat too much here. Maybe I get fat. I’ll try not eating too much but I will not do that. After I came back Japan, I’ll do diet. I had a big meal yesterday because I ate Thanks giving dinner. I ate turkey, sweet corn, mash potatoes and some cakes！ I stuffed. Today I went to nursing home. We told Japanese culture and Japanese. Old people talked us a lot. It was very fun. American nursing home is very similar Japanese nursing home. We will have a lot of old people in near the future, so we must study about welfare of the aged. It is very important thing for Japan because Japan is aging society.
